I told you when I started with these stories that I have Repo's and Collected on everything from A-Z, as you continue to read my stories you will see the truth in my statements. The company I was working for had got into this product called "RENT A ROCK" and yes it's exactly what it sounds like people we where renting to own jewelry! Things like necklace's, rings bracelets all kind of items. Like it wasn't hard enough to get into the homes of these people now I got to chase them down and get jewelry off their persons. The first customer I had for this new product line was very late, he had rent to own a wedding set with hers and his rings and of course he was behind and had broken 2 promises to pay. I had to put him on my run list. This person was set up to pay weekly and at this point he was weeks in the rear. Since this was my first time running a jewelry account I wasn't really sure what to expect. I pulled up to the house I saw a young woman on the porch, as I got out and approached her she came down the steps. I told her my name and what company I was with, she asked what I needed from her? I asked if her husband was home? The lady said no but she was his wife could she help me? I told her I was there to collect on the ring sets. She asked " What ring set? I told her the wedding set that was rented about 4 weeks ago. I told her to look inside the ring band if there is a RR stamp it's the rings, so she did this and told me it had the stamp as I said. I told her I had to collect on the ring set, I gave her the amount of the 3 weeks in the rear. The lady looked at me and said she had no money on her but she would call her husband at his job site and see if he had any money I told her I would wait while she called him. You see I could tell by her actions that she had no idea that this guy rented to own her wedding set and only could think how that phone conversation was going. The young lady returned in about 5 minutes and said her husband said he could pay Friday. I told her that would be no problem for Friday to pay and get the rings returned because the first 3 payments since he got the items are in the rear I will have to have the rings returned today. The young lady looked at me then started crying she told me she couldn't take them off herself ! This was her only marriage and her vow when got married was she would never take them off. I asked her you want me to take them off? She told me if I wanted them I would have to , she couldn't and with that she stuck out her hand, I looked at her then I pulled the ring and band off. The girl was crying really bad at this point, I waited till she calmed down a bit and told her I need to know where your husband is because his will need to be return also. I noticed a change in her she was getting mad, I think not so much at me but with her husband. The young lady said not a problem, so she drew me a map. You see he was a brick mason and he was at a job site working. I had no house number so I only had written directions from the wife and hoping she wasn't sending me on a long drive for nothing. I had to drive for about 25 minutes to get there, you see they lived in the hood area but he worked in some of the newsiest areas. I got to the road just as she had written, and her map took me directly to the house they were working on. I was in a marked truck so I was hoping he would see me and come out since I had no idea what he looked like, when I got out I was looking around trying to judge the guys faces. I was talking to a random guy who came by and was trying to ask the guy if he knew my customer when a guy came up to me and asked if I was looking for him. I verified with him that he was my customer. The guy said I told my wife to tell you I would be in Friday, I told him she did but as I explained to her due to the fact that these are the first 3 payment that came due on this new account, you can get the rings back but I can't leave the rings out here. The guy looked at me hard and asked" Did you pickup her rings? I told him yes this is how I knew how to find him. The guy looked at me like he could kill me, he said I told you I would be in Friday to pay up to date. I said do you realize that you came in over a 30 days ago and got this ring set and have yet to make any payments nor have you made any attempts to return my calls! do you remember the contract you signed? it clearly tells you if you don't make your rental payment we will pickup the items. The guy started cussing I think couldn't understand him much, this guy snatched off the ring and threw it in the mud and called me a few names. I picked up the ring and put in my pocket and I'm thinking this guy is pissed off at me but he's the one who Rent-To-Owned his wedding set AND THEN didn't pay on the danm things!!
